Eurosport becomes official Tokyo 2020 Olympics broadcaster in France

Eurosport is reinforcing its position as ‘Home of the Olympics in Europe’ by becoming an Official Broadcaster of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in France. This expands Eurosport’s Olympic footprint to 50 markets and territories for the upcoming Games.

Already Home of the Olympics throughout Europe for Tokyo 2020, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and Olympic Games Paris 2024, Eurosport’s parent Discovery has agreed a partnership with the CANAL+ and France TV, to secure the exclusive PayTV rights for Tokyo 2020 across Eurosport’s linear and digital services. France TV will remain the official free-to-air broadcaster for Tokyo 2020.

Andrew Georgiou (right), president, Eurosport and global sports rights & sports marketing solutions, said: “We are delighted to complete our Olympic offering by bringing Eurosport’s comprehensive, localised and all-screen coverage to fans in France.”

In a separate agreement announced earlier this year, France TV will sub-license (from Discovery) exclusive free-to-air rights to the 2022 and 2024 Olympic Games.
