ZEE5 bolsters product and tech teams with key appointments

Indian VOD platform ZEE5 Global has strengthened its product and tech teams.

The appointments come as the company says it is looking to “aggressively scale up operations across international markets.” The company currently serves over 76 million users globally.

Rahul Vaz (pictured right) has been hired to head up the product team while Vinay Patodia (pictured left) joins as head of technology.

Vaz most recently served as senior product director of Voot and will be based out of the ZEE5 Global office in Mumbai. He has worked in the industry for over 18 years and has held positions at People Interactive, Hungama Digital and most recently Viacom’s Voot.

In his role at ZEE5 Global, Vaz will be responsible for defining and driving what the user experience of ZEE5 Global should be in global markets and grow out the product division and “ensure a seamless entertainment experience on the platform for ZEE5’s global audiences”.

He will also build efficiencies towards a stronger user interface in terms of design, communication and more, while also looking for constant improvements on the web and app.

Patodia also has over 18 years of working across technology strategies, and has served at Hungama Digital, Onmobile, Torchfi and others. He will lead the engineering team and be responsible for building out an innovative, scalable and customer-centric platform.

Both bring strong domain expertise and experience and will play a key role as we grow and consolidate our leadership position globally.”

Most recently, ZEE5 signed a deal with video tech provider Kaltura for the deployment of the Kaltura TV Platform Player.
