BFI Player launches on Apple TV in UK

The British Film Institute’s s subscription streaming service, BFI Player, is now available to UK customers through Apple TV channels on the Apple TV app across iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and select Samsung smart TVs.

Customers can subscribe directly to the service on the Apple TV app for £4.99 per month.

Subscribers to BFI Player through Apple TV channels can watch a curated collection of classic and cult films either online or offline via downloads.

Apple’s Family Sharing feature means that up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels using just their Apple ID and password.

The Apple launch will bring movies including Federico Fellini’s 8½; Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas, Jean-Jacques Beneix’s Betty Blue; the Korean thriller The Housemaid and Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt to users.

The launch coincides with the 63^rd BFI London Film Festival and the streamer will bring past festival features including Dogtooth (Yorgos Lanthimos), Arcadia (Paul Wright), Goldstone (Ivan Sen), The Arbor (Clio Barnard) and Evolution (Lucile Hadzihalilovic) to subscribers.

New customers to BFI Player through Apple TV channels are being offered a seven-day free trial.
