Bouygues Telecom selects Alpha Networks for improved EPG
Hybrid TV back-end and smart video platform provider Alpha Networks has announced that French Bouygues Telecom has launched its start-over service on Bbox.
The service, which allows users to restart a live programme from the beginning, is currently available on 55 channels.
It utilises Accurate EPG, a module in Alpha Networks’ tucanoRED back-end which analyses TV streams in order to detect real programme start and end times and replace the one provided by the EPG providers.
The company promises that the module guarantees “an accuracy of 90% of timers’ corrections” through the use of machine learning, algorithms and manual treatments.
Eric Laurent, TV content, services and fixed products marketing director at Bouygues Telecom said: “We are happy to collaborate with Alpha Networks and benefit from the Accurate EPG solution.
“Thanks to this new feature, Bouygues Telecom continues to ease the digital life of its millions of customers who daily watch TV through its Bbox, by listening to their needs and therefore improving and enriching the services those set-top boxes deliver.”
David le Dantec, CTO at Alpha Networks added: “Alpha Networks is putting a lot of effort in research and development to create market-leading technologies for TV and entertainment industry.
“Our commitment to innovative features and capabilities for our flagship product, tucanoRED, touches nearly every aspect of end-users habitual exchange with their needs and entertainment”.
