ProSiebenSat.1 launches news channel in Austria

ProSiebenSat.1 has launched news channel Puls 24 in Austria alongside a new app.

ProSiebenSat.1 initially debuted the Puls 24 service in Austria in 2017 as a pop-up channel on Austrian free-to-view streaming app Zappn. However the German media group has now launched it as a 24-hour channel and dedicated app.

This is the fourth channel that ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4 Group has launched in the Austrian market. The channel, which debuted with a primetime broadcast featureing Sebastian Kurz and Peter Pilz, will be available on TV, via an app, the web and via a live stream at puls24.at.

Markus Breitenecker, Puls 4 founder said:  “Puls 24 will be the first news and live event platform in Austria to produce domestic and foreign news and relevant events from a single source and play it centrally on all devices. With aspiration and attitude, our journalistic guideline is: we illuminate both sides.”

Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, station manager at Puls 24 said: “In an increasingly complex world, we want to provide content at the time the audience needs it. We want to shed light on all sides of political and social phenomena and events. We want to be present at relevant events as they happen. We want to be local, Austrian and live and thus offer added value to national and international TV offerings. To do so, we are focusing the journalistic powers of Puls 4 on everything from news, talk, magazines, society and sports. The new Puls 24 newsroom is the journalistic heart of… our group.”
