Altice USA taps Devialet for high-end connected home speaker

Altice USA is to launch a Devialet-powered high-end home speaker that can control the connected home.

Altice Amplify,described by the company as an intelligent, high-fidelity home speaker that powers the connected home will feature Devialet’s sound technologies and also includes Amazon Alexa built-in for voice control of smart devices, music playback, and so on.
Altice USA says that Altice Amplify’ssound experience is compatible with all TV systems and offers hands-free voice control of the Altice One entertainment and connectivity platform.

The launch of a smart speaker markes a new direction for a US cable company. In France, Devialet’s technology has been most recently incorporated into service provider devices by Free, which offers the Devialet player as part of its Freebox Delta offering. Devialet’s technology has also been adopted by Sky in the UK.

Altice Amplify will be available to Altice USA’s Suddenlink and Optimum customers later this year for US$399.
