Orange España offers free Amazon Prime, commissions first original
Orange España has struck a deal with Amazon that will enable it to provide Amazon Prime as part of its convergent Love offering.
Customers that sign up for the Love, Love Max or Love Negocio offerings from August will be able to benefit from Amazon Prime free of charge as part of their package for 24 months, representing a saving of €72, or for a year, meaning a saving of €36.
The offering will include access to Amazon Prime Video, Music, Reading, Twitch Prime and Amazon Photos as well as Amazon’s rapid delivery service.
Orange says that the inclusion of Amazon Prime Video in Love packages will reinforce its video offering as one of the most complete in the market, with access to third-party services including Netflix, Rakuten, FlixOlé, Starzplay, Movistar Series and new premium content packages (Infantil Max, Música Premium, Deportes Extra, Millennial and Lifestyle.
Orange TV separately offers movies, series, international channels, music and kids channels and associated video-on-demand services.
Orange had previously announced the launch of Amazon Prime Video on its new Android TV set-top box, which enables users to download apps available on the Google Play store and comes with integrated voice search.
Orange is also moving to boost its TV offering by developing its first original scripted drama series. The service provider has signed production outfit The Mediapro Studio’s subsidiary 100 Balas to produce what is described as an adrenalin-packed series that will target younger audiences. Production will begin in the autumn. Mediapro says that the show will introduce a novel narrative structure, supported by the use of new technologies, which will play a prominent role in the production both from a visual as well as a dramatic point of view. The unnamed show will be created and scripted by José A Pérez Ledo, creator and director of Órbita Laika.
“The Mediapro Studio’s tried and tested experience in the field of production makes it the best travel companion we could have asked for to launch the first series project for our television platform, which, in this way, further enriches its already excellent content offer,” said José Antonio Guzmán, director of Orange TV.
“We’re delighted to have been chosen by Orange to develop its first series in Spain in association with our 100 Balas label, which enables us to undertake a new style and gender option we are keen to explore. It’s excellent news to be accumulating new partners in content production here in Spain, which is experiencing a real golden age for series with international projection, a project we’re truly excited about being involved in as a strategic partner,” said Alejandro Flórez, general manager of 100 Balas.
