Netflix and Cellcom announce collaboration agreement

Netflix is continuing its expansion into Israel with the announcement of a distribution deal with Cellcom.

Cellcom, is an Israeli communications group that serves as the country’s largest cellular provider with over 2.5 million subscribers. The deal will see Cellcom serve as a distributor of Netflix in Israel, including through direct access to the Netflix services from the Cellcom tv platform.

In addition to being a cellular provider, Cellcom Israel provides OTT TV services, internet infrastructure and connectivity services and international calling services, as well as landline telephone services in Israel.

Netflix first turned its attention to Israel in 2017, introducing local language versioning and billing in local currency, as well as offering Israeli TV shows.

As pointed out by local publication Globes, this deal with Cellcom will leave satellite broadcaster Yes as the sole Israeli TV service provider not to offer access to Netflix.
