Swiss Sunrise launches 4K OTT service
Sunrise, the Swiss network operator, has launched a new multiscreen TV platform as an OTT service.
The service, named Sunrise TV neo, is available as an app for Apple TV, smartphones and tablets, and PC.
Sunrise TV neo consists of more than 230 TV channels, with over 110 in HD quality, and becomes the first OTT TV app in Switzerland to support UHD/4K. This will include the Insight TV UHD channel, among others, at launch.
The app can be used simultaneously on up to six devices, with a PC app and support for Chromecast planned for the future.
“Our customers’ TV habits are changing: There are more and more screens everywhere. Customers usually have a mobile device with them and want to be able to retrieve TV content everywhere and at all times,” said Olaf Swantee, Sunrise CEO.
“The new Sunrise TV neo app works seamlessly on all screens and devices and is a perfect fit for our customers’ needs. We are excited to be setting new standards for the TV experience.”
Sunrise TV neo is made up of two subscription tiers. The cheaper, TV neo, offers single-screen streaming for smartphones, tablets and PC for CHF5 (€4.40) per month. Customers who want to use the Apple TV app will have to opt for the more expensive tier, TV neo max, which also allows for streaming on up to six devices at CHF20 (€17.50) per month. Neither subscription has a minimum contract period.
