Mediapro sees revenues jump
Spanish broadcaster and content producer Mediapro has posted a 20% increase in revenue for 2018, following its acquisition of premium sports rights at home and internationally and a ramping up of its production efforts.
Mediapro, which earlier this announced the consolidation of its production company subsidiaries and increased investment in production under the new Mediapro Studio banner, posted revenues of €1.967 billion and recurring EBITDA of €222 million, up from €190 million a year earlier.
Investments amounted to €69 million and net debt stood at €442 million at the end of the year.
Mediapro works across content production, rights exploitation, audiovisual services and digital and eSports.
Mediapro grouped its production assets, including Globomedia, 100 Balas, Big Bang, K 2000, Mediapro, Burman Office and Mediasur, under the Mediapro Studio banner earlier this year.
During 2018, Mediapro acquired the rights to French top-tiuer football in the form of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for four seasons fromn 2020 to 2021. Mediapro also holds the Spanish right s to the Qatar World Cup and international rights to domestic La Liga football.
