Okko sees strong growth
Russian video-on-demand provider Okko saw its revenue grow by 81% last year to RUB2.5 billion, while the number of users grew from 1.5 million to 1.83 million, according to local reports.
According to the reports, use of Okko TV on mobile devices grew threefold and now amounts to 10% of all usage. Okko CEO Ivan Grodetsky was cited by the ComNews website as saying that Russian consumers were increasingly looking to legal services and paid services for high-quality content.
Grodetsky said that Okko’s owner, Rambler Group, was planning to roll out new services and promotional campaigns this year, including a general loyalty programme.
Rambler Group recently outlined plans to build a complete video ecosystem under the Okko brand, including the rebranding of its cinema chains Cinema Park and Formula Kino under the Okko brand. The group said it was creating an updated loyalty programme that will enable people collecting points from buying cinema tickets to redeem them when purchasing subscriptions to the online movies on-demand service.
