Panasonic’s new OLED and LCD lines offer HDR10+ and Dolby Vision

Panasonic is making HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos available across its 2019 lines of OLED and LCD TVs, apart from its entry-level 4K LCD series.

Panasonic’s four 2019 OLED series TVs – the GZ2000, GZ1500, GZ1000 and GZ950 – and its flagship 4K LCD series TV for this year, the GX920, will all be powered by Panasonic’s new HCX Pro Intelligent processor.

These TVs will support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and HLG Photo, creating what Panasonic claims is, “complete compatibility with all current commercially available HDR formats”.

Panasonic is introducing two other 4K LCD series TVs this year. The entry-level GX700 series features a ‘4K Studio Colour Engine,’ that supports regular HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, while the GX800 series steps up to an HCX processor, adding support for Dolby Vision.

Dolby Atmos sound is supported by all the new TVs, except the GX700 4K LCDs models.

All the OLED models are expected to be UHD Premium certified and Panasonic said these sets will also feature “fine tuning by Hollywood colourist Stefan Sonnenfeld”.

“Panasonic’s latest OLED and LCD screens are effortlessly able to reproduce tricky scenes of variable brightness and contrast – often found in live sports broadcasts and in action movies,” said the company in a statement.

“This rare talent, combined with the exceptional colour-optimising skills of Sonnenfeld, has resulted in a range of Panasonic TVs that deliver highly accurate, truly cinematic images.”
