Facebook expands ‘fan subscriptions’ trial to Europe
Facebook is expanding its ‘fan subscriptions’ trial to Europe, rolling out the new feature in the UK, Spain, Germany and Portugal.
Facebook’s director media partnerships, EMEA, Patrick Walker, announced the move in a blog post published to coincide with the social network’s first Facebook Creator Day in EMEA and this week’s Vidcon London event.
At the same time Walker said that Facebook is making ‘brand collabs manager’ available in Europe, starting with the UK and Germany – a second initiative designed to help creators make money.
“Our creator community in EMEA continues to bloom on Facebook, and supporting creators remains core to our company mission,” said Walker.
“They follow their passions and create awesome videos that inspire millions of people, building vibrant communities of fans globally.”
Facebook first started testing fan subscriptions in the US last year, allowing people to support creators with a small monthly recurring payment in exchange for “special rewards” – like exclusive content or badges to show their supporter status.
“We have been really encouraged by the early results of these tests,” said Walker.
Brand Collabs Manager lets advertisers or brands find and collaborate with creators for Facebook branded content opportunities.
