Juniper: voice assistant use to triple by 2023

The will be 8 billion digital voice assistants in use by 2023, more than triple the 2.5 billion that were used at the end of 2018, according to Juniper Research.

The report said that smartphone assistants will be the largest platform by volume thanks to Google Assistant and Siri but predicted that smart TVs would be the fastest-growing category over the next five years.

The smart TV voice assistant space is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 121.3% in the next five years, with smart speakers tipped to grow by 41.3% CAGR and wearables by 40.2% CAGR over the same period.

“In these categories, Amazon’s Alexa has already established itself as the leader, setting the pace for the market,” said Juniper. “In addition, Chinese companies will make inroads internationally in the future.”
