TF1 secures handball deal with BeIN Media
French broadcaster TF1 has struck a deal with pay TV outfit BeIN Sports to acquire the rights to air a number of matches from IHF World Championship handball tournaments from 2019-25, for both men’s and women’s events.
TF1 will be the exclusive free-to-air distributor of the Championship, and will air three matches featuring the French national teams during the first phase of the competition, along with the semi-finals in the case of France making it to that stage.
TF1 will also air the men’s and women’s final if France makes it through under a separate deal with Lagardère Sports, with all matches also being available on BeIN Sports’ service.
BeIN Sports, which acquired the rights to the competition from Lagardère Sports, will exclusively air all the other matches featuring the French teams.
