KPN names new technology chief and restructures management
Dutch telco KPN has named Babak Fouladi to the new position of chief technology and digital officer.
Fouladi is currently the group chief technology and information officer at South African telecom provider MTN Group. He has also worked in senior roles for Vodafone Spain and Vodafone Romania, and for Ericsson in Russia. His appointment at KPN will be effective December 4.
The company said that it was creating this new role as a response to rapid changes in technology and the digitisation of processes and services.
Separately, KPN has named Hilde Garssen as chief people officer, succeeding Erik van ‘t Hof, who is moving to the position of EVP leadership, talent and culture. Garssen previously worked for ABN Amro.
Finally, the telco’s chief operating officer, Joost Farwerck, is taking on responsibility for regulatory and public affairs. He will also assume responsibility for new business and continue to be responsible for wholesale business as well as joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
“We are excited to welcome Hilde and Babak to KPN. I am confident that their extensive track record in technology, networks and people management, and their leadership, strategic, and operational expertise will drive fresh thinking,” said KPN CEO Maximo Ibarra.
“Their expertise is of a great value as we continue to attract, develop and retain a talented and diverse workforce to support the evolving needs of our company. This creates a solid foundation to accelerate the successful execution of our strategy.”
