YouSee teams up with Fox to launch joint service for Denmark
Danish telecom operator TDC, which provides residential TV and broadband services under the YouSee brand, is launching a new TV channel in partnership with Fox Networks Group combining Danish shows with US series from Fox Networks. The two companies have named Pil Gundelach Brandstrup to head up the service.
The new channel, Xee, is branded to combine the ‘X’ of Fox with the ‘ee’ in YouSee, as well as phonetically being close to the English word ‘see’, according to the company. YouSee media director Christian Morgan said that the combination of homegrown Danish content with the best shows from Fox would provide “a unique channel for all our customers”.
Brandstrup has also been named by Fox as head of development for Fox Networks Group in the Nordic region. She was previously channel manager for Danmarks Radio service DR1, also taking charge of DR3, DR Damasjang and DR Ultra. Prior to DR she worked as programming director for TV2, Zebra and Bliss in Norway. She will take up her new post in February, working with editor-in-chief Linda Etgar, a former BBC executive charged with developing Danish-produced content
Xee will be averrable to all YouSee TV customers both as a broadcast TV channel and as a streaming service available via the web, app or set-top box.
