Netgem TV strikes deal with Channels Islands telco
TV technology and service provider Netgem TV has struck a customer loyalty partnership deal for its Amazon Prime-including offering with Channels Island telco JT, formerly Jersey Telecom.
JT and Netgem TV will offer JT customers a Netgem SoundBox packaged with Amazon Prime for new and existing customers.
By signing up to a JT Pay Monthly mobile plan, customers will be able to get a Netgem SoundBox at £4 per month plus one year worth of Amazon Prime included.
The offering, with all Freeview catch-up channels also included, will be available to JT customers in Jersey and Guernsey.
Netgem said that the proposition was designed to address Channel Island customers’ needs. With UKTV channels being out of geographic reach for the islanders, JT customers who sign up to this deal will now be able to access UKTV programmes from Dave, Drama, Yesterday and Really on-demand through the UK TV Play app as part of Freeview Play which is integrated on the device.
Sylvain Thevenot, managing director of Netgem TV said: “With the aim that great TV doesn’t have to come with hefty monthly bills, the UK TV industry has been launching many ‘skinny bundles’ with a low entry cost and general ‘pay as you go’ approach to premium content. We wanted to push a loyalty-first deal in order to be on top of the great free on-demand TV offered through Freeview Play – Consumers do not systematically want to renew their TV or pay for an expensive deal to enjoy great TV content – so we made this a reality.”
Dominic Vye, head of commercial development at JT said: “We are delighted to offer the Netgem SoundBox to our customers. The SoundBox coupled with Amazon Prime has an exclusive selection of Prime Originals, thousands of popular movies, TV shows and over 50 million songs. All of which can be streamed in high quality audio in the home on JT’s full-fibre network in Jersey, which provides Islanders with some of the fastest internet speeds in the world- all at no extra cost. We’re particularly delighted that our customers will now be able to watch more content through Freeview Play.”
