Orange sees solid TV growth
Orange had 9.374 million IPTV and satellite TV customers at the end of the third quarter, up from 9.209 million in Q2 and up from 8.867 million a year ago. Overall, TV numbers were up 5.7% year-on-year.
In France the operator saw its TV numbers rise from 6.912 million to 6.959 million quarter-on-quarter, while in Spain the number of satellite and IPTV customers rose from 639,000 in June to 685,000 in September. Spanish TV customers were up 15% year-on-year, with TV penetration of the operator’s broadband base in the country rising two points to 17%. Orange said that its content aggregation strategy in the country, including football, was a key reason for a return to growth in broadband alongside expansion of its fibre reach.
In Poland, TV numbers increased from 900,000 in June to 921,000. Elsewhere in central Europe, TV numbers grew from 618,000 to 850,000, while in Belgium and Luxembourg, TV numbers grew from 140,000 to 159,000.
Overall, Orange turned in solid results, with revenues of €10.3 billion for the quarter, up 0.6% on a comparable basis, and adjusted EBITDA of €3.7 billion, up 3%.
