Nordic region’s Canal Digital adds offline viewing
Starting today, customers of Nordic DTH provider Canal Digital can download movies, series and shows to watch offline.
This means that content covered by the new feature can be viewed whenever and wherever the user wants, for example when travelling, in places without coverage – and also to save on the use of mobile data.
The new offline feature allows Canal Digital customers to download content from publishers including Fox+, Disney, BBC, Discovery and Paramount+ to their portable devices.
The platform says it is “the latest in a series of developments at Canal Digital, which is meeting evolving TV trends with an increasingly relevant big and small screen experience, backed by a leading linear and streaming rights portfolio.”
Canal Digital chief product and digital officer, Tone Krohn Clausen, said: “By launching offline, our customers get an even more flexible TV product. We expect offline will be very well received, as we know many customers want to be able to bring their favourite series and films with them, without always needing to be online.”
Canal Digital has 840,000 customers. Examples of content they can now download and watch include Mission Impossible, Top Gear, Glee and Paw Patrol. Accessing the functionality requires that customers update their Canal Digital app via Google Play or App Store.
