Under the terms of the partnership, T-Mobile will deploy AminoOS software, which allows previously deployed devices to be upcycled to deliver an upgraded TV experience – including integration with the latest media players.

According to Amino, the software enables a smooth transition to a new platform with minimal disruption.

T-Mobile will also benefit from cloud-based remote assistance and device management capabilities to ensure consumers are given support during and after the transformation. These tools also lower expenditure by reducing the number and duration of customer calls.

Currently, T-Mobile provides services to four million customers with 200,000 subscribers to its T-Mobile Thuis (Home) TV service which combines broadcast and over-the-top feeds.

Marieke Snoep CCO at T-Mobile said: “The AminoOS solution allows us to cost-effectively offer all our customers a leading-edge TV service that meets their demand for advanced capabilities in a multiscreen, multidevice world.”

Donald McGarva, Amino’s CEO added: “Our upcycling capabilities are a proven solution for operators that want customers to benefit from next-generation TV experiences without replacing set-top boxes.”
