Digital Catapult selects 10 UK companies for VR and AR Augmentor scheme
Ten early-stage VR and AR businesses have been selected to join Digital Catapult’s Augmentor programme, which is designed to accelerate business adoption and investment in the UK immersive sector.
The 10 selected companies include: hologram company HoloMe; VR and MR technology firm KageNova; scientific VR platform Lume VR; AI haptic interface company Valkyrie Industries; and Swim AR, which makes an AR display for swimmers.
The other five were: healthcare sector Subconscious VR; gaming platform Kodama; enterprise-focused Somewhere Else Solutions; AR design studio Arcade; and VR and 360 capture specialists Motion Pixel.
As part of the 10-week long Augmentor programme, the companies will receive technical and business mentorship, access to state-of-the-art facilities and support to pitch their ideas at an investor showcase in September 2018.
“We developed Augmentor to catalyse an immersive investment ecosystem in the UK and accelerate the creation of a VR and AR market,” said Rebecca Gregory-Clarke, lead technologist, immersive, at Digital Catapult.
“The UK has great potential to lead the way and become the best place in the world to produce immersive applications and we’re excited to support these 10 companies to contribute to the UK’s success.”
Digital Catapult is a UK-based digital technology innovation centre focused on driving the early adoption of technologies to make businesses more competitive and productive, and to ultimately grow the country’s economy.
