Slovenia’s T-2 taps Amino for 4K UHD TV launch
Slovenian service provider T-2 has tapped UK-based outfit Amino to provide technology to support the operator’s launch of the country’s first 4K UHD TV service.
Amino said it is deploying technology that will underpin a major service upgrade, which will expand T-2’s service to include 4K UHD content and value-added Video on Demand and Subscription VOD services.
The company’s Enable software will power UHD content delivery and support a range of new features, including timeshift TV and advanced search for both in-home and mobile TV services.
Ljubljana-based T-2 is Slovenia’s second largest IPTV operator by share and delivers a range of broadband, entertainment and voice over IP services across its own fibre-optic network, alongside mobile voice and broadband.
T-2 chief strategy officer Gregor Štampohar said: “We want to provide our customers with the very latest entertainment experiences and Amino’s solutions have been a key factor in the successful launch of our new service offering. At the same time, we are also seeing the value of customer self-install of devices with considerable cost savings in terms of reduced engineering visits. It is our goal to offer our customers the best user experience.”
Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: “Operators are now balancing the delivery of the latest high- quality consumer experiences around the home with a cost-effective drive to reduce installation and customer running costs. Our solutions are designed to meet these key objectives – and we’re delighted to be working closely with T-2 on their exciting rollout.”
