Com Hem launches Netflix-integrated TV Hub
Com Hem has launched TV Hub, an Android TV-powered platform that combines linear TV with on-demand and streaming services and is high dynamic range (HDR) and 4K compatible.
TV Hub lets users navigate between linear TV channels and play services and can be customised with apps downloaded from the Google Play store. The remote also has shortcuts to Netflix, SVT Play and TV4 Play.
The device has voice-control capabilities and linear TV content can be accessed via FibreLAN, FibreCoax and with standard antenna. Com Hem designed the Hub and developed the hardware, user interface and software with partners including Google, Technicolor and 3SS.
“One of the strengths of TV Hub is our cooperation with some of the most popular play-services,” said Jessica Andersson, product director of TV at Com Hem Group. “In addition to SVT Play and TV4 Play, we are delighted that Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service will be available in TV Hub at launch and that our customers can easily access their content via the button on the remote control.”
Maria Ferreras, vice president of business development EMEA at Netflix added: “Com Hem is one of our longest standing operator partners and has been at the forefront of embracing streaming services.”
“We are excited about the TV Hub which will make our Netflix originals which includes hundreds of hours in 4K and HDR quality even more accessible for Swedes. By seamlessly pressing the Netflix button, customers can reach their favourite content like Stranger Things, Narcosor Bright even faster than before.”
TV Hub is available for Com Hem customers from today and will be available to Boxer customers later in the year at a list price of SEK1,695 (€163). During a launch campaign customers can choose to rent the device for a one-off fee of SEK500.
