Proximus secures HBO shows with Be TV deal
Belgian telecom operator Proximus has struck a deal with pay TV service Be TV – hitherto available only on cable – to offer its channels on its platform. The move means that Proximus customers will be able to view HBO content in French on Be TV channels.
Be TV, backed by Wallonian cable operator Voo, provides six channels in HD – Be 1 HD, Be Séries HD, Be Ciné HD, Premier HD, Ciné+ Frisson HD and Ciné+ Classic HD for €24.99 a month. Be TV Go, the platform’s TV Everywhere app, will also be available to Proximus customers, free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The move means that Proximus customers will be able to Be TV’s content line-up, which includes HBO Series such as Westworld and Game of Thrones.
Be TV Go users will also be able to view content from Be TV’s two on-demand catalogues Be on Demand and Ciné+ On Demand.
“We are very happy with the enrichment of our content offer on Proximus TV, particularly the premium segment with the arrival of Be tv. This allows us to further expand our range of TV options and better respond to the desires of our customers as well for the linear as the VOD offer,” said Guillaume Boutin, chief consumer market officer at Proximus.
“We welcome the arrival of Be tv on Proximus TV, which will allow us to further improve the accessibility to our channels and our groundbreaking and exclusive programs by making them available to all,” said Edouard Rodriguez, managing director of Be TV.
Proximus will distribute Be TV across Belgium, including in Flemish-speaking Flanders, where Telenet already carries the service and which has its own deal with HBO.
Voo launched the Be TV Go multiscreen offering last year, making the service available to non-cable customers as well as its own subscribers. Be TV’s deputy managing director Christian Loiseau said at the time that the group’s aim was to make its exclusive pay TV offering available across the entire Belgian market.
