Akado launches new interactive TV service
Russian service provider Akado has launched a new interactive TV service in partnership with technology outfit LifeStream.
The service is available via smart TVs and mobile devices. Users can install a dedicated smart TV app or download the Akado T app to their mobile devices. Akado is making channels available to users for viewing outside their home and outside the Moscow region in which it operates.
Functionality of the service includes the ability to pause and rewind live TV, recording and viewing on multiple devices simultaneously.
Akado is offering over 170 channels via the new service, with packages available form RUB50 (€0.70) a month.
Akado commercial chief Maxim Chernov said that the launch represented a new strategic direction for the company, catering for growing demand for personalised TV. he said that Akado planned to increase the amount of content available in the near future.
Akado had previously unveiled plans to launch an interactive TV service in 2016, but nothing emerged. The company had lagged behind rival operators in developing advanced TV offerings. Spokesman Denis Rychkov said at the time that the operator wanted to develop something that would differentiate it from other players.
