Iflix agrees first shortform content deal with QYou Media
Emerging markets SVOD service Iflix has signed a deal with youth broadcaster QYou Media to distribute localised QYou video content in 25 territories.
QYou Media is Iflix’s first shortform content partner and the companies will work together to distribute content from local video creators, starting in Southeast Asia.
The agreement includes the launch of exclusive locally-hosted QYou formats on Iflix’s service in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.
QYou said the deal marks a major step in further localising its content offering around the world, following local launches in India and Poland last year.
“We are passionately focused on local customer experiences and are always looking for new ways to deliver authentic culturally relevant, compelling content to our users,” said Sean Carey, chief content officer, iflix Group.
“QYou is a great partner to help us in this quest. They have a proven ability to curate, customise and package the best of short form local online video content for millennial audiences.”
Curt Marvis, CEO and Co-founder of QYou Media said: “Both of our companies recognise that there is a global shift towards a more culturally relevant and personalised content experience.”
“This is particularly true for younger audiences who regularly view videos from local creators on social video channels, where the barriers to creating amazing video are so much lower.”
QYou is a millennial-focused media company that packages ‘best-of-the-web’ video for multiscreen distribution.
Iflix claimed a milestone 10 billion minutes were streamed across its platform in 2017 – the equivalent of more than 19,000 years of content.
The subscription video-on-demand service offers a library of Hollywood, Asian and Middle Eastern TV shows and movies, including many first-run titles, and is available in 25 territories throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
