Vimeo starts Livestream integration, launches Mevo Plus camera
Vimeo has started to integrate its products with Livestream and has launched a new version of Livestream’s Mevo-branded camera.
The new Mevo Plus live-streaming camera updates the previous Mevo model, and users of the hardware and Livestream’s Studio software can now stream direct to their Vimeo Live accounts.
The news comes a month after Vimeo agreed to buy live video platform Livestream and launched its own Vimeo Live product, offering live streaming through its platform for the first time.
“The past month has been incredibly affirming: Vimeo and Livestream are united in our commitment to democratise the storytelling process and give more creators access to capabilities that were previously limited to a select few,” said Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud.
“Mevo Plus is a remarkable tool that puts the power of a TV studio in your pocket, and is the first camera that integrates directly with the Vimeo platform. We are excited to launch deeper integrations in the coming months that will make live event production infinitely easier.”
The Mevo Plus lets users stream video to Vimeo Live and Livestream, as well as to other platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Compared to the original Mevo camera, which launched last year, the Plus offers faster data transmission speeds, stronger WiFi performance, reduced network interference, and improved stability.
Livestream co-founder, now Vimeo’s general manager of Live, Mark Kornfilt, said: “Millions of consumers are focused on upping their livestreaming output and production value to capture and share the live events that matter most to them.
“With the enhancements to Mevo Plus and our first integrations, we provide both the tools and reliability to deliver the ultimate live experience. We’re excited about what this means for our customers and those who may be exploring livestreaming for the first time.”
The Mevo Plus is available to buy in the US at Best Buy, Amazon, B&H, Adorama, and through the Mevo website, priced at a suggested retail price of US$499.99.
