Iflix launches in Nepal with Ncell
Emerging market SVOD service Iflix has launched in Nepal in partnership with mobile operator Ncell.
Ncell customers can get three-months free access to Iflix, as well as unlimited data from 12am to 5am during this period to stream and download shows on Iflix. Ncell 4G users get an additional two hours of data between 5am and 5pm.
Iflix users can access the subscription service’s catalogue of TV shows, movies and local content from up to five devices – including phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and TVs. Viewers can download content to mobile devices to watch offline, when not connected to the internet.
“Iflix is passionately focused on fulfilling the entertainment demands of local consumers throughout Nepal,” said Iflix Nepal country lead, Bhawana Ghimire.
“We are deeply committed to offering them a uniquely personalised and localised service with a vast selection of the world’s best TV shows and movies, to stream or download on any device of their choice.
“We are thrilled to partner with Ncell, Nepal’s leading mobile network, for our launch here and to bring our world-class service to all Ncell customers throughout the country.”
The Nepal rollout comes after Iflix launched in Ghana in September. The service is now available in 23 territories throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
In August, Iflix completed a US$133 million (€113 million) funding round led by US media giant Hearst.
