Serbia’s number two cable operator taps CryptoGuard for CA
Serbia’s number two cable operator Kopernikus has tapped content security provider CryptoGuard to provide conditional access services to secure its content revneues as it digitizes its network and launches new pay TV services.
Abris Capital Partners-backed Kopernikus offers about 200 channels, including Serbia’s leading sports channels Arena Sport and Sport Klub. The Belgrade-based company also provides internet services, offering speeds of up to 1Gbps, through its own network.
Abris took a majority stake in Kopernikus last year after a period in which the operator had successfully consolidated about 20 smaller cable operators. At the time of the acquisition, Abris investment director Milorad Anđelić hailed Kopernikus’s plans to expand organically and via acquisitions and its plans to expand it range of TV, broadband, OTT and fixed voice services. The company remains headed by co-founder Srđan Milovanović as CEO.
“In order to protect its content, Kopernikus chose CryptoGuard CAS because of the good conditions, high quality, flexibility, user friendly customer interface simplifying working with the system and complete integration of all needed functionalities,” said Stevan Mićašević, CTO at Kopernikus.
Kjell Carlswärd, CEO at CryptoGuard said: “Kopernikus is the latest addition of major TV operators to choose CryptoGuard CAS for their content security needs. This proves the appeal of a highly scalable, feature-rich and cost-effective CAS supporting both card-based and cardless security clients for any platform DVB, IPTV and OTT.”
