iWedia provides software for Askey UHD STBs
TV device software specialist, iWedia is providing software for two new ultra HD set-top boxes made by Askey Computer Corp.
iWedia’s Teatro-3.5 software solution for Android TV set-top boxes (STBs) will now be available on the Askey STI6080 UHD IPTV and OTT Android TV STB and the STS2060 UHD IPTV and DVB Android TV STB. Both boxes support 4K HEVC.
Teatro-3.5 is designed as a complete software solution for Android TV STBs, suitable for pay TV operators specialising in broadcast, multicast, and unicast delivery.
Running Android TV Nougat (7.0), Teatro-3.5 is integrated with various conditional access systems and is connected to various service delivery platforms and content delivery networks.
“Teatro-3.5 allows pay TV service providers to smoothly mix their own services delivered OTT, over IPTV, and over broadcast with third parties Android TV apps and services,” said Nikola Teslić, iWedia’s CTO.
“The two STBs from Askey on which we have ported our solution have proven to be very efficient platforms to cover both the IP-only and the hybrid use cases”.
Askey product director, Thomas Ho, said: “Our Askey STI6080 and Askey STS2060 set-top boxes provide the best value for money to pay TV operators who decide to adopt Android TV. With the pre-integration of iWedia’s Teatro-3.5, we allow them to use those boxes to access their own bouquet of pay TV services”.
Separately, iWedia announced it has integrated Teatro-3.5 into the latest Android TV UHD STB from Korean set-top manufacturer, INTEK Digital.
The software is being used in INTEK’s UHD-S72F set-top box – a cost-effective device for pay TV operators opting for Android TV.
