DNA adds Netflix in 4K to Android TV box offering
Finnish cable and telecom operator DNA has struck a deal with Netflix and has added the streaming video-on-demand giant’s service to its DNA TV-hubi Android TV offering.
DNA TV-hubi users can now watch Netflix programmes in 4K quality, according to DNA. Customers wishing to access shows in 4K will need a Netflix 4K subscription and a recommended internet speed of 25Mbps.
Netflix’s app can be activated via the menu of the DNA TV-Hubi platform on channel 140 on the main proramme guide. DNA is also proposing to enable access via a dedicated Netflix button on its remote control.
DNA’s entertainment business director Mikkio Saarentaus said that sales of the company’s new TV platform were off to a “brisk start”.
DNA TV-hubi is an Android TV box that enables internet services, games and music in a single device. DNA launched the box, which comes with Chromecast functionality built in along with access to Google apps, in August.
The service includes applications from leading Finnish TV channels Katsomo, Yle Areena and Ruutu, along with internet services such as YouTube and Deezer. The device is provided for DNA by Sagemcom.
