Discovery channels disappear from Sweden’s Com Hem and Boxer
Discovery’s channels will disappear from Sweden’s Com Hem and Boxer platforms in Poland today after the cable operator, which also owns the Boxer DTT pay TV platform, failed to come to an acceptable agreement over carriage terms with the US factual programming giant.
Com Hem said that, like a number of other Swedish TV operators earlier this year, it had failed to come to an agreement with Discovery and that, as a result, it could no longer broadcast Discovery Chjannel, Animal Planet, Eurosport 1 and 2 and TLC.
Boxer’s customers will also be deprived of the channels.
Com Hem said it regretted the need to make this move and said it was doing everything it could to find a solution.
In total, 1.8 million Swedish homes that previously had access to the channels will now be without them.
Both side blamed each other for the failure to strike a deal.
Earlier this year, Discovery became engaged in a bitter battle over carriage terms with Sky both in the UK and Germany.
