Molotov to launch hybrid offering on Samsung TV

French OTT TV platform Molotov is to become available on Samsung smart TVs. Samsung owners will be able to access the service from the fourth quarter of this year.

The integration of Molotov will enable viewers with Samsung smart TVs to view live over-the-air TV programmes as well as OTT services via the Molotov app on the Samsung smart TV portal.

Molotov said that the hybrid digital-terrestrial and OTT TV app would provide an ideal product for consumers in parts of the country with poor-quality internet connections.

The Molotov app will provide 80 live channels and catch-up TV service, and will enable cloud DVR functionality, startover TV, and follow-on functionality enabling users to begin watching on one device and end on another.

The launch follows the entry into Molotov’s ownership of France’s transmission services provider, TDF, at the end of last year.
