Movistar Partizado only available via main Spanish operators

The new season of Spanish La Liga football kicked off this weekend, with matches to which Telefónica holds the exclusive rights offered only via the country’s principal operators.

The Movistar Partizado offering will only be available via Telefónica’s Movistar service, Vodafone, Orange and Orange-owned Jazztel.

Following the shutting down of Telecable-owned online sports service Tedi.tv, which was unable to strike a deal that would have allowed it to air Movistar Partizado in a way that made economic sense, rival online sports service OpenSport is reportedly also not offering these matches as part of its offering.

The operators that are offering the service have to renew their deal with Movistar each season depending on their expectations about the number of users likely to sign up.

Vodafone and Orange are offering 4K coverage of all matches featuring Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Mediapro-owned BeIN Sports meanwhile is offering only its own channels, providing eight matches per match day via the BeIN La Liga channel.
