Slovakian pubcaster names new chief
Slovakian public broadcaster RTVS has named Jaroslav Rezník as its new director-general.
Rezník has taken up his new role after being elected by the country’s National Council in June.
Rezník was previously director-general of news agency TASR, which during his tenure was transformed from a state-subsidised organization into a commercial entity and introduced new products including a web-based news platform and an online TV channel.
He has also worked as chief advisor to the Slovak ministry of culture and as director-general of Slovak Radio in Bratislava.
Rezník replaces Václav Mika, who completed a five-year term at the end of July.
According to Slovak press, Rezník has said he wants to retain the current management team, including programming director Tibor Búz and broadcasting chief Attlia Lósz.
