AsiaSat 9 scheduled for liftoff in September

AsiaSat’s latest satellite, AsiaSat 9, is now scheduled for a launch on September 28 at 09:50 Moscow time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The satellite will replace AsiaSat 4 at 122° East, and includes the world’s first dedicated Ku-band beam for Myanmar and new Ku-band beams targeting Indonesia nd Mongolia. The craft will also provide two enhanced Ku-band beams covering Australasia and East Asia, and a C-band footprint that offers wide high-power coverage over Asia, Australasia and the Pacific region, according to the company.

The satellite’s five Ku-band beams come with ‘cross-strap beam switching’, meaning they can be switched easily to meet demand.

Space Systems/Loral-built AsiaSat 9 will be lofted from Baikonur on a Proton M/Breeze rocket.

The satellite has 28 C-band and 32 Ku-band transponders along with a Ka-band payload.
