Swisscom to distribute Eurosport Player

Swisscom will be exclusive distribution partner for the Eurosport Player in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as part of an extended deal with Discovery.

The entire Discovery portfolio and newly acquired premium live sport on Eurosport – including exclusive Friday night Bundesliga football – will be accessible to Swisscom viewers.

Swisscom said that Swisscom and and Teleclub subscribers will have access streaming service Eurosport Player for “an unmatched discounted price”.

The news comes after Swiss pay TV service Teleclub, which is majority owned by Swisscom, announced last month that it will become the exclusive distributor in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for Bundlesliga rights held by Discovery.

“We’re pleased to build on our partnership agreement and now also offer all Swisscom and Teleclub customers a discounted rate to Eurosport Player, delivering premium locally relevant sports content to consumers at home, online and on the go,” said Alberto Horta, VP strategy and commercial development, Discovery Networks Germany.

Italian language versions of Discovery’s factual entertainment channels will still be available via Swisscom, while Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 will additionally be available in German and French.
