Vodafone launches TV in Italy with Kaltura
Vodafone has launched a TV service in Italy using the OTT TV technology platform provided by Kaltura.
Vodafone is deploying the same set-top box that it already uses to deliver TV services in Spain. The service includes multi-screen availability via the Vodafone 4G network, cloud DVR and a new user interface.
Subscribers have access to a catalogue of content from a range of different television and OTT sources, available through live, VOD, catch-up, startover, cloud DVR and a range of apps. The content libraries of services including Netflix and Sky Italia Now TV are part of the service.
Channels on the mobile platform include Nove, Real Time, DMax, Giallo, Focus, K2, Discovery Italia’s Frisbee and De Agositini’s Super!
Vodafone has launched Vodafone Pass, a series of pacakges enabling users to consume products without eating into their mobile data allowances, at the same time as its video offering.
The Video Pass eanblees users to view TV on the move at a cost of €10 for four weeks. The pass includes access to the internet TV service as well as mobile video.
In addition Vodafone is launching a social and chat pass, enabling unlimited access to social networks for €5 for four weeks, and a music pass, for €3.
Kaltura’s platform includes functionality such as advanced content discovery, favourites, cross device interaction and watch lists.
