Lis Murdoch digital studio preps Snapchat originals
Social video platform Snapchat Discover has commissioned a pair of series from Elisabeth Murdoch’s Vertical Networks.
Yes Theory and Without Limits will debut on the platform this summer, with the former set to launch at the end of this month.
Endemol Shine North America is serving as creative consultant on Yes Theory, with a further plan to take the format to linear television.
Yes Theory follows four best friends from different countries that travel the world seeking discomfort in hope of personal growth. Each episode features a personal story of someone seeking to conquer an everyday fear.
“We’ve always believed that amazing things happen on the other side of yes. Snapchat, Vertical Networks and Endemol Shine have now given us the opportunity to showcase that idea to the world,” said Derin Emre, one of the four stars. “We’re beyond excited to inspire our audience to attack their fears and get outside of their comfort zones.”
Vertical’s second series, Without Limits, follows intrepid photographer Jeremiah David as he travels to new locations to capture astounding footage.
Venice Beach-based Vertical produced Snapchat’s debut dating show, Phone Swap, which currently goes out each Friday.
Vertical also launched millennial male-focused channel Brother on Snapchat Discover last year, the first original network to launch on the platform.
Murdoch, the founder of Endemol Shine predecessor Shine Group, launched Vertical in November 2015.
