Harmonic to highlight virtualised CCAP
Harmonic will use ANGA COM to highlight software-based solutions to support operators’ deployment of multiscreen services and higher resolution channels with high-speed gigabit networks designed to accommodate the launch of competitive triple-play offerings.
The company will showcase its Virtualised CCAP Solution to enable cable operators’ transition to Gigabit capacity.
Harmonic’s CableOS virtualised CCAP solution features what it claims to be the industry’s first software-based Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), and what it says is the first end-to-end Remote PHY system.
Supporting centralized and distributed architectures, the CableOS solution resolves space and power constraints in the headend and hub, according to Harmonic.
Asaf Matatyaou, vice-president, solutions and product management, cable edge business, at Harmonic will participate in a technology panel during the ANGA COM conference on “Cable Paths to Virtualization.” The session will take place Thursday, June 1 from 10:00-11:15 in Room 2.
Harmonic will also show its range of media processing solutions for cable operators, enabling operators to adopt new formats and codecs, such as UHD TV and HEVC. It will show its cloud-native VOS cloud media processing application and VOS 360 software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. An end-to-end cloud-native workflow will be shown with demonstrations of time-shift TV, VOD and cloud DVR applications.
Harmonic will also show how cable operators can deliver HEVC statmux at low bitrates via its Flextream statistical multiplexing technology. As part of Harmonic’s new ProStream X stream processing solution, Flextream integrates statistical multiplexing with IP switching, enabling operators to deliver 12 HEVC 1080p channels in a single QAM.
The company will also highlight its EyeQ video compression optimisation solution including new analytics capability that quantifies the improved quality-of-experience for OTT services versus CBR approaches.
Finally Harmonic will highlight UHD-HDR playout and delivery, offering a solution for both live and on-demand applications.
Harmonic will exhibit at ANGA COM in Hall 7, Stand G20
