Telenor Satellite extends deal with UPC DTH
Telenor Satellite has extended its satellite distribution agreement with UPC DTH, the Liberty Global-owned DTH pay TV operator for central and eastern Europe.
According to Telenor, the new agreement is a long term multi-transponder agreement, which will continue to provide UPC DTH with satellite capacity for its broadcast traffic on the Thor 5, Thor 6 and Thor 7 satellites.
Telenor’s satellite fleet is based at the 1° West position, which currently serves over 2.2 million DTH households in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
“We appreciate Telenor Satellite for their open and flexible approach in delivering a quality broadcast solution from 1 degree west, serving our DTH-operations in Romania, The Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia,” said Michael Lee, managing director of UPC DTH.
“The agreement with UPC DTH is core to our broadcast household reach within Central and Eastern Europe and it demonstrates our continued commitment to digital TV within the region,” said Morten Tengs, CEO of Telenor Satellite.
“We have a long standing relationship with UPC DTH and look forward to continuing working together in developing their broadcasting offering within Central and Eastern Europe”.
