Denmark’s Stofa taps Irdeto for Android box security

Danish cable operator Stofa, owned by energy company SE, has tapped Irdeto to provide its Cloaked CA content security  system to deliver content through the operator’s new Android set-top boxes.

Stofa’s introduction of a Kaon Media-produced Android TV box will give subscribers access to its own range of services as well as access to the Google Play app store and to streaming services such as YouTube.

This deployment is an extension of a long-standing relationship between Stofa and Irdeto. In 2006, Irdeto was chosen as the operator’s preferred CA provider, securing DVB-C digital cable services to approximately 400,000 homes across Denmark. Irdeto Cloaked CA continues to provide content protection for the existing cable network.

Stofa is also using France’s iWedia to provide it Teatro-3.5 software for Android TV.
