HorizonSAT taps Irdeto for new MENA DTH service
Satellite service provider HorizonSAT has tapped Irdeto to provide content security for a new pay TV service targeting the Filipino population in the Middle East and North Africa.
The new service, HTV Pinoy, will launch later this year, targeting over two million Filipino Tagalog speakers in the MENA region.
HTV Pinoy will be the first package offered as part of Horizon TV, a new pay TV platform based in Dubai.
Irdeto will provide its Irdeto Cloaked CA with FlexiCore technology to enable HorizonSAT to securely launch and deliver the service.
The inclusion of Irdeto Flexicore will give HorizonSAT the ability to renew chipset-based security, even on already-deployed chips, via software updates over-the-air, according to Irdeto.
“As a trusted and proven security leader in the MENA region, Irdeto was a natural choice to protect our new services,” said Waleed Al-Hejailan, CEO and chairman of HorizonSAT Group.
“Irdeto Cloaked CA offers us cost effective, end-to-end protection along with an agile approach and local presence to quickly respond to our commercial and technical requirements. This enables us to focus on delivering great content and experiences to Filipino consumers.”
