DR names media chief as Rabøl resigns
Danish public broadcaster DR has appointed a new media director after the resignation of incumbent Gitte Rabøl.
Henriette Marie Lund takes up the role on April, handing her control of development DR’s channels, services and platforms.
DR Media is responsible for the strategic direction of television, radio, web and mobile business, along with marketing and third-party production.
She has been with the pubcaster since 2013, in positions such as acting chief of DR1 and news editor. Before that, she was editorial director at commercial channel TV2 and has worked in Danish media for three decade in total.
Rabøl is leaving after six years as media director, but will remain with DR until April 2018 after overseeing tasks such as a diversity drive
As part of the transition, digital manager Michael Arreboe appointed deputy media director, also effective April 1.
“Henriette Marie Lund has a clear vision of what good public service content is, now and especially in the future, and even an in-depth insight into production itself,” said DR chairman Michael Christiansen.
“I have no doubt that she will be the right person to solve the task she has been given, namely to ensure a strong public service focus, while she will spearhead [our response] to the challenges we face facing in the form of special new media habits and increased digitisation.”
