Colors launches in HD on Sky
India’s Viacom18 has partnered with BT Media and Broadcast to launch its Hindi general entertainment channel, Colors, in HD via Sky in the UK.
BT is managing the uplink and downlink of the channel’s signal via its high capacity Global Media Network, with Sky customers able to access Colours in HD as of last week.
“Over the past few quarters we have been focused on accelerating the expansion of our global footprint,” said Viacom18 group CEO, Sudhanshu Vats.
“Our maiden association with British Telecom will take our flagship channel Colors HD into the homes of SKY TV subscribers, providing them with access to not only the best of Indian content but also an enhanced viewing experience.”
Colors is known in India and other markets for its Indian adaptations of popular entertainment formats like Big Brother and Dancing with the Stars.
The channel has been available in the UK for more than seven years, but its availability in HD marks the first time that Viacom18 has brought high definition content to the UK market.
