Clementi takes up BBC Board chairman role
Sir David Clementi has taken up his position as chairman to the new BBC Board, following Privy Council approval.
Clementi’s four year term in the post runs from February 16, 2017 to February 15, 2021. The former deputy governor of the Bank of England was confirmed as the government’s preferred candidate last month.
He will lead a new-look BBC board, comprising 14 members, including ten non-executive and four executive personnel and effectively replaces Rona Fairhead, who was chairman of the old BBC Trust.
Clementi has been chairman of a number of organisations in both the commercial and not-for-profit sector, including six years as chairman of financial services firm Prudential.
