CSA extends mandatory channel numbering rules to operators

French media regulator the CSA has unveiled new rules extending the obligation to implement the mandated numbering of channels on the country’s digital-terrestrial platform to IPTV and cable operators.

Under the new regulations, TV operators will be obliged to offer the standard numbering of channels available on the DTT platform to their subscribers. They will be allowed to offer alternative numbering schemes but not as a default.

SFR has until new proposed an laternative numbering of channels as its default, grouping channels according to its own criteria. Free, on the other hand, has providing the standard DTT numbering to Freebox subscribers.
