Telia merges Lithuanian units

Nordic telco Telia has merged its Lithuanian operations and renamed the combined company Telia Letuva.

Telia merged for fixed-line telco Teo, mobile operator Omnitel and Baltic Data Centre together to create the new company.

According to Telia, its Lithuanian unit is the country’s only operator with a full fixed and mobile, broadband and TV offering. The company also has a presence in the enterprise IT sector.

“By merging our Lithuanian operations we are optimizing their business potential with the ultimate aim of adding value for our customers. Telia is the undisputed leader in broadband services and owns the most advanced 4G network that covers 99 percent of Lithuania. Telia Lietuva is ready for any challenges to come,” said Henriette Wendt, head of Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania at Telia.

“We completed the integration of our companies within an ambitious one year timeframe and ensured business growth at the same time. Now, as the first integrated operator in the country, we will continue to keep up the momentum and will focus on creating new value for our customers,” said Kęstutis Šliužas, form Teo chief executive and now CEO of Telia Lietuva.

Separately, Telia has acquired Fältcom, a Swedish Internet of Things specialist focusing on the public transportation market.

Fältcom’s systems make it possible for customers to monitor and control devices in one place on the globe from another. The company today has more than 160,000 installations, of which 40,000 are online, in buildings, vehicles, and customized IoT solutions. Fältcom is the market leader in Scandinavia for mobile platforms on buses, and every speed camera in Sweden is equipped with its technology. For 2016, Fältcom had preliminary revenues of SEK 83 million.
