KPN TV additions slow down in fourth quarter
KPN added 18,000 IPTV customers in the quarter, along with 2,000 broadband customers and 19,000 post-paid mobile customers in the quarter.
The IPTV additions represent a slowdown from the 22,000 added in the previous quarter and a sharp drop from the same period in 2015. The company now has a 30% market share in TV and KPN now has 2.325 million IPTV customers.
Success in selling bundled residential services resulted in a growing number of RGUs per household – up to 2.16 against 2.07 in Q4 2015, while ARPU increased from €40 last year to €42.
Overall KPN posted revenues of €1.7 billion for the quarter, down 1.3%, and EBITDA of €606 million, up 8.3%.
“The full-year results demonstrate that we have made good progress with the key priorities of our Simplify, Grow, Innovate strategy as set out at the start of 2016. Our relentless efforts to innovate and deliver a unique fixed-mobile experience in the consumer market have resulted in increasingly satisfied customers, who are taking more and more services from KPN,” said Eelco Blok, CEO of KPN.
Blok said that KPN’s “elevated investment levels in recent years mean that our integrated networks now consist largely of fibre, which puts us in an excellent position to benefit from innovative technologies”.
